Gay character customization games

Video games are a fantastic method to express yourself. They allow players to direct the character’s lives and lead them on adventures which are not possible in any other form of media, from creating a new city to winning the ultimate battle. They’re an art form, a kind of art, and they must be treated as such. It’s important that developers use characters that are representative of a variety of individuals and their experiences. This includes queer people, minorities as well as people with disabilities and so on.

Gaming companies are making huge strides in the direction of inclusion. Companies like Bethesda and Ubisoft have taken innovative and business risks by slowly introducing LGBT characters into their games. The inclusion of characters such as Tracer and Soldier: of 76 in the well-known multiplayer shooter Overwatch has proved that these risks are beginning to pay off. The inclusion of these characters has helped players feel that the game is more relatable and has greater depth because of their inclusion.

In the same way BioWare’s new game Dragon Age Inquisition allows players to have a romantic relationship with V who is not a woman or transgender. The choice is purely voluntary, however the possibility that BioWare made it available at all shows that they have made the effort to ensure that their games are inclusive to the community.

These games prove that LGBTQ inclusion is not only achievable, but is highly desired. The addition of these characters help make it easier to accept LGBTQ relationships, thereby helping to make bigotry and hate no more. It’s the responsibility of the player to pick games that include LGBTQ characters that represent their preferences and personal identities. We encourage faculty and students members to try these games, and to seek out more inclusive games.
